Ryan Daves and Trenton Gustafson posted 5-0 wrestling records Saturday at the Southwestern League duals in Grand Junction.
For their efforts, the two Montezuma-Cortez High School juniors were named first team All-Southwestern League. Seager Oliver went 4-1 at 152 pounds to also make All-SWL first team. His loss came by pin to Willy Holdren of SWL champion Grand Junction Central.
The Panthers wrestled five duals against their fellow SWL schools and scored a 25-24 win over Montrose. All five M-CHS grapplers won against the Indians. Levi Gross earned a tough 12-11 decision against Jason Cooper at 113 pounds. Justice Ramos won by forfeit at 132 pounds. Both Panthers posted 2-3 records on the day.
M-CHS lost its four other duals by scores of 63-17 (Grand Junction), 36-28 (Fruita Monument), 48-18 (Durango) and 72-9 (Central).
The Panthers will wrestle Saturday at their regional tournament held at Eagle Valley High School in Gypsum with a time to be announced.
