I would like to see a more inclusive representation of diversity in your coverage, however.
The Montezuma-Cortez RE-1 School District is only 50 percent white, according to the district’s website. The other half is mainly composed of Native American and Latino students.
Although I loved seeing my daughter on the front page, I couldn’t help but notice that there was not one photo of a Native American or Latino graduate. Those families are equally as proud of their child’s accomplishments as my family is.
Representation matters.
Younger children need to see themselves represented for achievement.
Please be intentional in your coverage of all Montezuma County residents.
