PFC Thomas Ross Lopez, the son of Frank and Katrina Lopez of Dolores, graduated on Jan. 13 from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, Calif.
PFC T.R. Lopez was given the duty of squad leader for 2101 Echo Company 2nd Battalion. He additionally was given the duty of Guidons carrier for his 2101 platoon, and has also earned his expert rifle pin. PFC Lopez received the meritorious promotion, which is awarded to marines who have demonstrated a high degree of proficiency and have shown exceptional leadership ability.
PFC Lopez will report to duty at Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base to continue his training in SOI and MOS training. Lopez is a 2008 graduate of Dolores High School.
