Still no word on who will be filling Montezuma-Cortez School District Re-1 superintendents seat on the interim basis left vacant when Stacy Houser resigned following a school board meeting last Monday, Jan. 9.
However, Re-1 school board president Tim Lanier said that the board will meet tonight at 6:30 to name an interim superintendent. They will also discuss finding a permanent replacement for Houser at the meeting, which will be held at the administration building.
The school board has yet to take action on addressing the open seat and announcing Housers resignation, saying only that Housers desk is cleaned out, and that personnel issues were among the reasons for his departure.
According to Re-1 Chief of Operations Michael Canzona, there is no interim superintendent in place, and the school district is still waiting for direction from the board administration.
The board is still trying to close their agreement with Dr. Houser, Canzona said. There has been no official announcement.
Houser, who came to Re-1 as superintendent in 2005, still has not made an official statement, saying only that his office at the administration building is cleaned out. He also said that he supports Re-1 and that he wishes the students and staff well.
Canzona said he is still waiting for more information.
We are hoping to have direction soon, he said.
