When federal land agencies buy private land they should offer the same amount of public land back to the private sector, says the Montezuma County board of commissioners (Journal, March 24).
Thank you to the commissioners for being a voice for the people against land-grabbing greed. There are no guarantees in the current political climate, and who knows what will happen in future political environments?
We should not sacrifice our precious natural lands and cultural sacred places to the whims of developers, miners, drillers and the damage of off-road vehicles. I still feel a part of me lives in Montezuma County. The thought of what could happen hurts me deeply.
