The animals and staff at the Cortez Animal Shelter would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for participating and sponsoring dogs in the 12 Strays of Christmas: Hawkins Preserve, Pet Pal Cindy Barnhouse, Cortez Vision and Dr. Kim Parr, Cedarwood Animal Clinic and Dr. Laurie Ward, Flower Cottage, Four Corners Community Bank branch manager Lana Finley, Lyla Steele, Seasnings LLC, Jack & Janelles Country Kitchen, John Deer Greenline Equipment, Slavens True Value, Brus House of Color, Love on a Hanger, Pioneer Printing, Liquid Assets, Unlimited Learning Center, Rimco, Envy Salon, and Fast Eddies.
The dogs thoroughly enjoyed getting dressed up and going walking downtown everyday. When it was time to get dressed, their eyes would light up with glee! Most of the dogs learned more manners while walking and it got them out of the shelter for an hour every day. The dogs that took part in the walks were Chester, Sedona, Tipper, Tulsa, Rusty, Snowball, Pedro, Bee Bee, Mylie, Dually, Dixie, Hope, and Oscar. All of them were adopted during the holidays, making the 12 Strays of Christmas a huge success. Quite a few cats and other dogs were also adopted during the holidays. The shelter hopes that the 12 Strays of Christmas raised awareness in the community about the animals at the shelter, and that not all animals that find themselves in shelters are there because theyre bad. The shelter hopes to make this an annual event.
