Toys are a memorable and favorite part of Christmas, but not all families can afford them this year.
Two Dolores groups are working to fix that situation.
So far, the Dolores Girl Scouts have managed to get an impressive number of toys, but they would like more.
The Girl Scouts in Dolores have collected 81 gifts so far to donate to The Nest Child Advocacy Center as their response to the Community Christmas Connection theme of the parade.
The Nest suggested art supplies as a great gift for either gender and just about any age.
People can call Thomas if they want to donate toys at 882-2212. She will take gifts up until Dec. 21.
Laurie McGuire and Debbie Jorgensen are also working on their annual toy drive again this year. The two Dolores residents own Escape with Us Travel and are organized with Shiloh, The Dolores Girl Scouts and Bees in a Bonnet, and endorsed by the Dolores Chamber of Commerce.
Toys can be dropped off through Dec. 16 at the following locations: Dolores Visitors Center, Dolores State Bank, Riverside Convenience Store, and the Ponderosa.
Jorgensen and McGuire ask for new, unwrapped toys.
