Thank you for a great farmers market season, Cortez! Thank you for your patronage and for making this one of the best seasons in our history. We have come a long way since the days on Market Street, and we could not do it without our patrons, vendors, musicians, friends, and supporters in this community.
A special note of thanks to Montezuma County for allowing us to use the parking lot every Saturday; Farmers Telephone for sponsoring the Community Booth; friends Jodie, Kathleen and Carol for helping out every week; master gardener Valerie for answering all of your gardening questions; Kimberly at the Cortez Journal for the nice articles, and Wendy for the shoppers report; the Webmaster, Connie, for all her work on cortezfarmmarket.com and our Facebook page; the Brocks for storing our little trailer; the Cortez Retail Enhancement Association for the $500 grant; committee members Barbara, Lee, Lew, Matt, and Andy for all the time spent getting us organized; Colorado State University Extension office staff Tom and Cheryl for their unfailing help and support; Stone Free Farm for sponsoring our Saturday spot on KSJD, and Jeff, Rufus and Roda at KSJD for the weekly broadcast; LiveWell Montezuma and the Pinon Project for teaching our community about cooking with fresh vegetables and using Market Bucks to acquaint many more with our market; Lynn at Mesa Verde Country for keeping such good records; the Cortez Public Library, especially Laura, for the childrens storytime; Michelle for setting up the music and the musicians for their great performances; our treasurer, Rosie, for keeping all the finances straight; all the Friends of the Market who come through for us year after year; and last, but hardly least, our customers, who come by every week to partake of all we have to offer.
Id also like to personally thank everyone who works for the county for parking the fleet cars out of our way every Friday for the weekend, and all of you who reacted with understanding and grace when told your dogs werent allowed in the market area.
It takes a community committed to buying local to support a growing farmers market and we are all happy to be a part of this wonderful community. With your help we will continue to grow and furnish our community with the very best we can produce right here in our own backyards! See you the first Saturday of June.
