7:26 p.m.: A man reported a case of fraud in the 14000 block of County Road 26. He said someone had called him several times claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House and saying he had won $975,000 but that he needed to send money to pay for insurance and delivery costs. The man said he sent a total of $5,150 in cash to an address in Hydro, Oklahoma. Responding deputies contacted the Hydro Police Department for help in the ongoing investigation.
Monday, May 8
12:34 p.m.: A woman reported a lost purse which she had last seen at the Cortez Masonic Temple, 304 E. First St. The purse and its contents, which included a driver’s license, a social security card, a health care benefits card, a checkbook, a Medicaid card in the woman’s granddaughter’s name, a debit card and a library card, were valued at $96 total. The case remains under investigation.
2:32 p.m.: Deputies responded to a two-vehicle traffic accident at Cruzan Irrigation Incorporated, 11049 U.S. Highway 491. One man had reportedly backed into the front passenger side of a semi truck that was unloading cargo at the time. Both vehicle sustained damage, but no injuries were reported.
Tuesday, May 9
10:52 a.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear at Montezuma County Court, 601 N. Mildred Road.
1:17 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the 35000 block of Colorado Highway 184. A woman claimed her boyfriend had threatened her male roommate with a knife. Deputies were unable to find the suspect, but applied for a warrant. The case remains under investigation.
3 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a theft in the 12000 block of County Road 21. A man said two Stealth Cam trail cameras, valued at $350 each, and an LED work light valued at $60, had been stolen from his residence. He said he suspected an employee he had recently laid off of stealing the items, but when deputies contacted the man, he said he had put the items in a storage area on the reporting party’s property, on the reporting party’s orders. All the property was found where the former employee said it would be, and the deputies dismissed the case as unfounded.
4:43 p.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

9:22 a.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear at Montezuma County Court, 601 N. Mildred Road.

5:55 p.m.: A woman was served with a warrant for failure to comply at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Saturday, May 13
5:49 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a fire in the 24000 block of County Road M. A large tractor had caught fire and was fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived. A smaller tractor and a Peterbilt truck that had been parked nearby were also damaged. The owner said he had been working on the tractor before the incident, and responding firefighters believed the fire could have been caused by a malfunction in the vehicle.
