On Sept. 27 and 28, the Southwest FFA District held their annual Hesperus Leadership Camp. The Cortez, Dolores, Dove Creek, Durango, and Ignacio FFA Chapters all attended and participated in numerous workshops conducted by Katelynn Wilson and Ryan Dreitz. Also in attendance were five of the 10 Colorado FFA Officers, Lyndee Charles, Shelby Cochran, Emily Rudder, Kyle Hartshorn, and Patrick Halde, who helped with the workshops and put on the BIG Conference for the Greenhand members.
While FFA members attended the workshops, there were eight members who were district officer candidates. Six of these members received a district office: Amber Blackmore, Dove Creek, Sentinel; Nakayla Lestina, Dove Creek, Reporter; Michael Sparks, Dolores, Treasurer; Ashley Little, Durango, Secretary; Chantel Campbell, Durango, Vice President; and Skkye Moreno, Durango, President.
Congratulations to the new Southwest FFA District Officer Team and it is hoped that everyone who attended learned some valuable information, made new friends, and enjoyed all the activities.
