3:46 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 900 block of Brookside Drive on suspicion of violating a protection order, after police responded to a report that he was throwing things around a woman’s house and yelling at her young son.
4:25 p.m.: A woman was arrested at the Colorado Welcome Center, 928 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear after police responded to a report that she had thrown up in the restroom and appeared to have taken pills, in addition to being highly intoxicated. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital before being taken to the jail.
4:59 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 300 block of East First Street on a warrant for failure to appear.
6:27 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 300 block of West Main Street on suspicion of second-degree assault after her mother claimed she had ripped some of her hair out, punched her in the face several times and choked her.
Sunday, April 23
3:27 a.m.: A man was arrested at Best Western, 535 E. Main St., on suspicion of disturbing the peace after he refused to stop yelling about witchcraft and bright lights outside the hotel. Due to his high level of intoxication, he was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital before being transported to the jail.
9:33 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of North Harrison Street on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and on a warrant for failure to appear. Almost 1 gram of methamphetamine was found in his possession.
1:25 p.m.: A man was arrested in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., on suspicion of disturbing the peace and resisting arrest after witnesses said he was yelling profanities at a group of people in the park. When confronted by police, he ran away, leading the responding officer to chase him, grab his jacket and pull him to the ground. He was treated for severe intoxication at Southwest Memorial Hospital before being transported to the jail.
1:40 p.m.: A man was issued a summons at Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St., on suspicion of shoplifting. Store employees claimed he had taken a pair of boots, two knives, three bottles of antacids, a bottle of mouthwash, a machete, a package of cologne, a flashlight and an apple pie, valued at $328 total.
5:23 p.m.: A man was arrested at City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing.
Monday, April 24
12:59 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1200 block of Montelores Avenue on a warrant for failure to appear.
2:33 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a fight in the parking lot of Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St. Witnesses reported a woman had gotten into a physical fight with her ex-husband and current fiance after the ex-husband tried to get her to leave with him. Police requested a warrant for the ex-husband’s arrest, but the case remains under investigation.
2:39 p.m.: A woman was served with a warrant for failure to appear at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
9:01 p.m.: A woman was issued a summons at Rhonda Allmon’s Dance Studio, 125 N. Park St., on suspicion of disturbing the peace after another woman reported she had urinated on her vehicle. When police told the woman why she was receiving a summons, she reportedly responded with, “That’s embarrassing, huh.”
Tuesday, April 25
5:02 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Colorado Welcome Center, 928 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating bail bond conditions.
5:18 p.m.: A man was issued a summons at the Cortez Public Library on suspicion of trespassing.
