ames (Jimmy) and Dorothy Porter of Cortez will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married Sept. 23, 1961, at the Cortez Church of Christ. Both have been lifelong residents of the area, with Jimmy growing up in McElmo Canyon and Dorothy in Mancos. Jimmy and Dorothy still maintain their farm and orchard in McElmo Canyon. They have three children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. An open house to celebrate Jimmy and Dorothy’s anniversary will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Calvin Denton Room at Empire Electric in Cortez.
