Dear Editor:
The guest column by Ivan Messinger in the Aug. 23 Journal is typical of bureaucrats who sit in offices and read books. Then they make decisions without any personal observation or investigation.
I have hunted Boggy Draw since the 1980s. Boggy Draw has always been a migration route for elk. Few remain there for any length of time.
Deer dont seem to be overly concerned about motorized traffic. Some of the biggest bucks I have ever seen have been feeding in fields along paved roads within a mile of the Cortez City Limits.
I feel that closing the roads in the national forest is discrimination against disabled or handicapped people. All people have the right to enjoy the national forest Mr. Messinger quotes books, but has he ever made any personal observations? I have! Dont try to disguise your agenda by claiming to improve hunting for hunters. It doesnt wash!
