The Montezuma-Cortez High School golf season is in full swing after three tournaments at the Bookcliff Invitational On Monday in Grand Junction, and two Montrose tournaments on Wednesday and Thursday.
In Grand Junction, the Panthers took fourth then headed down U.S. Highway 50 to Montrose to compete in the Black Canyon and Bridges Invitationals. M-CHS took second as a team with 218 points behind Aspens 216 on Wednesday. Sophomore Jakob Rudosky was the tournament champion shooting a 3-under-par 67. On Thursday at Bridges Golf Club, the Panthers again finished as the runner-up with Rudosky (72) second and freshman Hayden Plewe placed third recording a 74.
We havent put it all together yet, but were right in there. We did well there, M-CHS coach Micah Rudosky said. There wasnt any 4A teams that beat us the last two days.
The Panthers will be at Rifle Creek Golf Course at 9 a.m. on Monday before hosting the M-CHS Invitational on Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Conquistador Golf Course.
Weve had a couple good days and some good scores, and were looking forward to our tournament this week, Micah Rudosky said.
