Thanks to an outpouring of continuing community support, the K9 Search and Rescue Teams annual pancake breakfast was again a huge success.
Hungry bicyclists and Rotarians were among the first to chow down with the rising sun. As the morning continued, many long-time friends and supporters of K9, as well as new acquaintances, some from out of state for Escalante Days, enjoyed lively conversation along with their pancakes and sausage.
Four of the Teams K9s (Axel, Melanie, Osa and Sasha) were kenneled on the bus and enjoyed a steady stream of visitors, young and old. The local Southwest Colorado team members were assisted in preparing and serving breakfast by distant members from southern California, northern Arizona and New Mexico.
The K9 Search and Rescue Team would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone who contributed in any way to the success of our pancake breakfast during Escalante Days in Dolores. We could not continue to serve without your support. We sincerely thank you!
While it is true that serving as a K9 handler is a time-consuming undertaking, there are a multitude of opportunities to serve as part of the team that require far less time and commitment, such as volunteering to periodically hide for the search dogs.
