Emblem club scholarship

Candace Powell, daughter of area residents Brent and Elaine Powell, is the 2011 recipient of the Cortez Emblem 261 scholarship. Candace will be attending her second year at Regis University in Denver and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Among other criteria, applicants are to be members in good standing, children, and grandchildren of members in good standing of Cortez Emblem Club 261 or the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1789 are eligible to apply for a scholarship. The application process begins late January or February of each year. Further information is available by contacting the Emblem Club President Jan Gardner at 565-2197.
