Oh, how I greatly appreciate the opportunity to encourage you in your faith through this article in the Journal. How wonderful Russell and his staff are to allow us the chance to speak openly to Montezuma County about the love of Jesus and His death for our sins.
In a brief commercial: Tomorrow, Sunday, July 17, the Cortez Family Worship Center Foursquare Church will have four individuals come in and do what is called Prophetic Painting/Artwork followed by a potluck. They are from the Durango House of Prayer, and during Praise and Worship will paint four different canvases as the Holy Spirit leads. It will be phenomenal. Its time to take back the media, drama and the arts for the Lord and this is an example of that. Everybody is welcome to come check it out.
Our country is experiencing in many areas what is best described as decaying conviction. Many peoples faith has been marginalized, compromised and minimized because of a lack of preaching the blood of Jesus, repentance of sin, and operating in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Since many Christians rarely see or even hear about the type of miracles that the New Testament is full of, they tend to settle for an intellectual gospel that stimulates their mind and motivates their curiosity but rarely transforms their lives or empowers their witness for Christ. The Apostle Paul spoke on this: And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God. 1 Cor. 2:4-5 (NLT)
This is not a knowledge problem, its a faith problem. We have rationalized and reasoned away the power of the Holy Spirit if we dont see anything happen. Just this past Sunday a man was having back pain. His left leg was shorter than his right. Full of faith, I prayed for that one leg to grow out in Jesus name, watched as it grew out and that guy be set free from pain. Either we believe what the Bible says or not. Either we stand on what the Bible says or not. Either we rely on the power of the Holy Spirit or not. Our convictions would not be decaying if we saw the power of God every day. Contend for it, family. Believe for it, family. Stop the decay.
