Another phase of construction at the intersection of U.S. Highway 491 and Lebanon Road will begin Monday, March 13 and will require some lane closures, according to a press release from The Colorado Department of Transportation.
Construction scheduled over the next two weeks includes placing concrete in the center median islands of U.S. 491 and at the intersection of Lebanon Road, seeding and mulching any disturbed areas throughout the project, sealing the joints in the new concrete pavement and final highway striping throughout the project limits.
CDOT anticipates that all work on the project will be completed by the end of March, according to the release.
Daily traffic control will be utilized to complete the remaining work. Some lanes will be closed temporarily during the day, but traffic will return to its normal configuration at the end of each work day, according to the release.
This construction is one phase of a $7.5 million project that involved relocation of utilities, replacing of a portion of the storm sewer system, construction of new median islands and street lighting, and repaving about a mile of Highway 491 with eight inches of concrete pavement.
The paving provides a new roadway with a 20-30 year road life. The project also included the realignment of Lebanon Road with Highway 491 to improve sight distance and protect turning onto and off of the roadway. The project started in May 2016.
