Laura Heaton, of Cortez, received the Washington Leadership Conference Scholarship at the 83rd Colorado FFA Convention on June 2.

The Washington Leadership Conference allows students to learn how to be effective leaders. The five-day experience is held at the Nations capitol. Students from all over the United States have the opportunity to take part in this beneficial event.
Heaton, of the Cortez FFA attended the prestigious leadership conference June 7-11. As a returning Cortez FFA officer, she returned with her experience and will help train the new chapter officer team. As a part of her experience, Heaton also had the opportunity to tour many of the monuments and memorials in Washington, D.C., as well as meet with elected officials.
