Bru’s House of Color owner Ray Wiemer has been invited to golf at the Valspar Tournament in Tampa, Florida this week.
“It’s a unique opportunity to go down and play with the pros,” Wiemer said.
Bru’s deals Valspar paints, so the company invited Wiemer to play. The Valspar Tournament is a stop on the PGA Tour.
Wiemer will play in the Pro-Am portion of the tournament, in which teams of four, including one professional golfer, compete. Wiemer said it’s usually very expensive to play in the Pro-Am, so he’s excited for the chance to be a part of it.
He said Bru’s is unique because it is one of the only stores in the country that exclusively sells paint. In most other areas, hardware stores sell paint along with their other inventory, he said.
A few years ago, Wiemer approached Valspar representatives, and they were excited to hear from someone who owned a store that sold just paint, he said.
“We talked with them about how to approach the market,” he said.
