Dear Editor,
I would like to praise and thank Habitat for Humanity of Montezuma County for the improvements made on my 60+ year old home in Cortez through their A Brush With Kindness program.
After replacing an interior and an exterior door, they installed a safety grab bar for my tub and shower. Then they assembled a crew to paint the eaves and exterior trim of my house.
On Thursday, June 2 at 8 a.m., six adults arrived including Carol West, A Brush With Kindness Coordinator, her husband Jim, and Habitat for Humanity President Larry Archibeque. At 9 a.m. seven high school students (four boys and three girls) arrived with their driver, English Teacher David Lavender from Telluride.
After taking only a short brown bag lunch break under the trees in my side yard, the crew had finished, cleaned all the brushes, and loaded their ladders and equipment. By 3 p.m., the two groups departed. My home looks wonderful. The teams were very professional. This was indeed A Brush With Kindness.
