Closing boat ramps will cost the region tourism dollars.
My family visits Southwest Colorado every year and we spend money to fish. You need to consider the potential lost revenue before closing ramps.
If you do close ramps, the closed times need to be posted well in advance and made as public as possible. Otherwise, folks who drive all the way to House Creek or Groundhog to only find the ramps closed without warning will find a new area to frequent.
I understand the zebra mussel problem is serious and potentially costly; but surely you can find money and people who will conduct the inspections. Please find an alternative to closing boat ramps.
