I’m disappointed that Osprey is constructing a new building in town.
By the looks of their products over the last few years, they’ve clearly sold-out; what happens when they end up owned by some large company like The North Face? We will just be stuck with some large empty building.
They already have land and an existing building in the area. What an act of corporate hubris to have to take up open space for some fancy office — isn’t protecting open space what those people are all about — and being green? Let’s not forget what this new building does to a carbon footprint.
If you speak to any people that work there, it is very clear that they continue to hire from outside of our town, community and often state, rather than investing in it. They have no store here and sell only their seconds and damaged product once or twice a year.
It’s disappointing the City of Cortez made such a short-sighted deal.
