As a veteran of the global fiber-optic broadband network industry, I urge Montezuma County residents to vote against the proposed broadband tax initiative.
The proposed five-year build out schedule is ridiculous – who knows how technology will evolve over that time?
And how many homes and businesses will access the theoretical services “from our rooftops?” I don’t use my services on my rooftop – I use Verizon 4G LTE in my house, and it works pretty well. Why would I want to continue to pay for it, and a sales tax on top of that, in return for some vague promises of a government-subsidized service at some undermined time in the future?
I’m actually quite surprised that our “conservative” commissioners would support this proposal. Vote “No!”
