A group of students from Cortez Middle School was on a field trip on April 22 and they ended up with a stop at the Cabela’s store, in Thornton, Colo. I am writing because I was absolutely floored by the behavior of the students from your middle school.
The children were so poorly behaved, I made it a point to ask the bus driver what school the kids were from, and shared with the driver how horribly these children behaved while inside the store. The school, the district, the parents, the teachers, and by a much greater measure, the students should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for allowing these young people to behave in such a manner. Especially because they were on a field trip and out in the public eye representing your area, the school, and your staff.
I could hardly believe how badly these children behaved, and how they were allowed to run amok in a place of business with no supervision. I am disgusted and horrified that there are young people who acted the way they did. Anywhere.
The students and their families need to be made aware that their behavior was completely inappropriate, and a letter of apology is certainly in order to the customers, workers, and management of the Thornton Cabela’s store.
