Where are the environmentalists?
According to the story headlined “Malfunction at McPhee’s pond kills hundreds of fish” (The Journal, March 15), local fish are dying while the local federal bureaucrats are deciding who has the jurisdiction to give them water. But not to worry, even-more-distant federal bureaucrats have been working on agency responsibility: exactly who has “management authority” to supply the McFee fish ponds with Dolores river water?
Have faith you fish! Our federal government is on the job, coming to the rescue. Grossly overworked government employees have your interests at heart and will save the day. Feel better now?
Hint: Transfer stewardship of McFee from Washington, D.C., to Montezuma County. Problem solving could be just a Monday commissioners’ meeting away.
What does it take for you big-government enthusiasts to wake up an smell the roses — or, in this case, the decomposing trout?
