On Friday, the Lady Panthers trailed the Warriors just 1-0 at half. But in the second, Central found the net three more times to pull away and win, 4-0, giving M-CHS its first loss of the season.
The Lady Panthers responded the next day with a win over Grand Junction.
M-CHS got a goal in each half – and held the Tigers to one second-half goal – to win, 2-1.
The Lady Panthers are on the road again this week, as they take on the Durango Demons (4-1) Thursday at 4 p.m.
Dove Creek takes two After dropping two games to Montezuma-Cortez in a double-header last week, the Dove Creek Bulldogs responded by sweeping Monticello in an away double-header on Thursday.
In the opener, the Bulldogs got three RBIs from Colin Hobbs and two apiece from Donovan Trudeau, Derek Kibel and Jordan Ernst to take down the Buckaroos, 12-6.
Hobbs pitched five innings for Dove Creek, striking out five and allowing four earned runs. Kyle Schultz pitched the final two innings, striking out one and allowing just one earned.
The Bulldogs’ bats got even hotter in the second game of the back-to-back, and they run-ruled the Bucks in a 20-5 win.
Case Baughman and Hobbs each went 4-for-5 in the contest and drove in three runs, and Spencer Gatlin and Ernst also added three RBIs each.
Ernst got the win for the Bulldogs after pitching 3.2 innings and allowing just four hits and three earned, while striking out eight.
Beau Hemphill closed out the contest, going 1.1 innings with two hits and one earned.
