A 52-year-old Towaoc man was ordered to register as a sex offender in late February after pleading guilty to unlawful sexual contact.
The prosecuting attorney asked the judge to sentence Cecil Tabbee to a year of jail, District Attorney Will Furse said.
Judge Todd Plewe did not add any time to the 238 days Tabbee had already served. But he did order Tabbee to pay about $2,000 in fines.
In July, Tabbee was arrested on suspicion of attempted sexual assault in Centennial Park.
The incident was witnessed by a man walking by, who asked another man to call police, according to police documents.
Before the police arrived, the witness intervened and told Tabbee he had to get away from the victim.
When officers arrived, Tabbee was walking away from the area with his pants unbuttoned and unzipped.
He told the officer he had bought the victim alcohol, but he had never done anything the victim didn’t want him to.
He claimed he was trying to help her with her clothes.
