Crites fires away

Joel Priest/Southern Ute Drum
CRITES-ERIA well met. Dolores’ Byron Crites deals heat to a Rangely Panther during this past Saturday’s 2A-District 2 Tournament at Canyon View Park in Grand Junction.  Crites received plenty of run support. The Bears amassed 21 runs, while allowing Rangely just four in a blowout victory. Paonia brought Dolores back to Earth in the championship game, however, winning 9-6, but both the Eagles and Bears advanced to this weekend’s 2A-Region 1 Tournament in Delta. Dolores (15-4) will get things going with Saturday’s 10 a.m. matchup against Sargent, tops in District 1, with either Paonia or La Veta awaiting the winner in the title tilt.
