Mancos, Dolores and Dove Creek took their track and field teams to the Terry Alley Invitational in Pagosa Springs on Saturday.
The Lady Bears placed second out of 14 teams with 105 points. They got first-place honors from Lexi Atkinson in the 100-meter dash (13.32), Cassie Lard in the 200 (27.31) and Cydney McHenry in the 300-meter hurdles (49.74). The 4 x 100 and 200-relay teams also won in times of 51.36 and 1:49.13.
The Bears were 14th with one point. Michael Neubert took sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 37-07.75.
Kelsey Corbin led the Mancos Lady Bluejays in the 1,600-meter run, finishing first at 5:43.66. The Lady Bluejays were eighth with 18.50 points.
Kenny Philpot took first in the high jump for the fourth-place Bluejays (73 points), jumping 6-00. Eric Lewis returned from injury to take second in the 800 at 2:08.01.
Kyli Banks was second in the shot put for the Dove Creek Lady Bulldogs with a toss of 106-84. As a team, the Lady Bulldogs were ninth-place with 16 points.
The Bulldogs got a strong effort from Austin Beanland in the throws. The freshman helped lead his team to a 12th place finish of two points with his sixth and seventh-place throws in the discus (116-02) and shot put (36-07.75).
Dove Creek, Mancos and Dolores will be at the 1A and 2A San Juan Basin League meets in Grand Junction on Friday and Saturday.
