The Dolores Bears advanced to regionals by splitting at its district tournament in Grand Junction on Saturday. They knocked off Rangely, 21-4, and lost to Paonia, 9-6 in the district championship.
Dolores (15-4) moves on the play Sargent in the first-round of the 2A region one tournament at Delta High School.
The Bears got 2-for-3 hitting performances from Kolton Schull, Ryan Greene and Tanner Cumpton against Rangely. Byron Crites got the win on the mound going a complete five innings.
Against Paonia, starting pitcher Austin McCracken took the loss but only gave up one earned run. Dolores led 6-5 going into the seventh-inning, but four Eagles runs in the top of the seventh put them on top to stay.
Dolores will face Sargent on Saturday at 10 a.m. If the Bears win, they place the winner of Paonia and La Veta at 3 p.m. for the region title.
