Juniors Ashley Lingo and Laura Heaton continue to dominate in the throws for the Montezuma-Cortez High School track and field team.
Lingo placed first in the discus with a throw of 125-03 and Heaton heaved the shot put 36-03.25 to win the event for the Lady Panthers, who placed fifth as a team out of 16 schools with 48 points at the Tiger Invitational at Grand Junction High School on Friday and Saturday. Senior Carly Wolf was third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 61.34.
The Panthers placed eighth out of 20 schools with 42 points. They were led by seniors James Sprague and Corey Adams. Sprague took second in the 800-meter run at 2:02.39 and was eighth in the 1,600 in 4:42.06. Adams was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a finish of 41.54.
M-CHS will head back to Grand Junction for the Southwestern League meet on Friday and Saturday at 1 and 9 a.m.
