Next year we are going to need to replace five trustees on the Mancos Town Board. Personally I am grateful for the service of those trustees that serve, as I know it is not an easy task. Now we need five new people who will serve with an open mind and the curiosity to learn about the many issues facing the town. The qualification is simple.
You must live within the Town Limits for at least a year prior to filing.
There are two regular board meetings and a workshop a month.
You receive a small stipend of $200/month and there is a pre-election training workshop as well as the availability of an Annual Colorado Municipal League conference. It is useful if you have participated in planning and zoning and other town commissions, but it isn’t essential.
My one piece of advise for those willing to serve is not to come to the board with just one issue as you will have many to deal with over your following four years of service. As a non-resident of the town, I thank you in advance for your service.
