Brandon Morton (formerly of Cortez) and wife Heather, who now reside in Valentine, Neb., are the proud parents of a son Gabriel James Morton. He was born February 18, 2011 at Great Plains Hospital in North Platte, Neb. Gabriel weighed 10 pounds 2.5 ounces and measured 21 inches long. Proud grandparents include Rhonda Scott of Valentine (formerly of Cortez), Valene Jordon and Pam Viator of Livingston, Texas, Jason Morton of Plainfield, Ind., great-grandparents Manson and Ramona Merritt, of Cortez, and Lester and Sonnie Burch of Liberty, Texas. Great aunt and uncle Priscilla and Michael Merritt live in South Heart, N.D. (former Cortez residents).
