An old adage says that history tends to repeat itself. Not always but sometimes even here in the Mancos Valley.

Curtis Chester Baker was born on Feb. 23, 1929. He passed away at the age of 80.

Frank Noland did something different and bought seven yaks at a sale barn in Red Mesa.

John Louis Paquin has purchased the Mancos Drug Co. from W. E. Linderholm.
At the own board meeting, Mayor James Bauer and trustees Robert Dean, John Wagner, Jake Riffel, Merle Cox and Van Will were sworn in.
Mrs. Maurice Ritter as resigned as a teacher in the Mancos schools.
Hunt Foods has taken over the Mancos match splint plant.
Nielson Construction has completed the hot mix on Highway 160 through Mancos.
Funeral services were held for Edward Zender, age 88.

George Woods has gone to Durango to secure bricks for his new building. (It became the Opera House.)

Railroad travel is on the increase.
Another heavy snowstorm is brewing. (Storms were news because the roads were wagon tracks and a heavy storm could make the mud so clingy that wagons couldn’t travel in and into town.)
This has been the coldest week of the season so far. (Quite often the coldest week has been between Christmas and New Year’s.)
On Dec. 23, in this village was born a son to the wife of H.M. Sprague.
On Dec. 24, Mancos has been incorporated with George Bauer as mayor and the trustees are Charles Kelly, Dave Lemmon, L.M. Armstrong, Henry Cadwell, H.M. Sprague, and Harry Ausburn. George Carr will be acting as the clerk of the newly incorporated town.
