The Montezuma-Cortez Marching Panthers traveled to Grand Junction on Saturday to participate in the 38th annual Colorado West Marching Festival.
There were 15 marching bands from western Colorado taking part in the competition at Stoker Stadium, and the Panthers proved to be one of the best.
The Marching Panthers took first place in the parade and first place in their class in the show competition.
“The students performed outstandingly,” sponsor Rodney Ritthaler said in an e-mail on Sunday. “Their behavior was exceptional.”
