The Montezuma-Cortez volleyball team is in a tough stretch of its schedule.
After dropping games to Delta (9-1) and Monument Valley (3-3), the Panthers traveled to Pagosa Springs on Thursday to try and stop the slide against the Pirates (9-3).
But the Panthers had trouble earning points, with most of their scores coming from Pagosa Springs’ errors, leading to their third consecutive loss.
Senior Laurel Chappell led the team with six kills and an ace, and senior Kristin Pierce added five kills.
While the Panthers were able to hang around in the first two games, Pagosa Springs pulled away in the third game to take the set in three straight (23-25, 20-25, 14-25).
M-CHS will look to break its losing streak on Tuesday, Sept. 22 in a home contest against Monticello (10-4) at 7 p.m.
