The Ute Mountain High School Rodeo Team will host a Colorado State High School Rodeo Association rodeo this weekend at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds.
The rodeo begins on Saturday, Sept. 5 at noon, with Sunday and Monday’s events starting at 9 a.m.
There are 150 to 200 competitors expected for the statewide competition, with junior high and high school running together for events like barrel racing, pole bending, rope tying, steer wrestling and bull riding.
Admission is free to the public, and the Ute Mountain team members competing are Breanna Maxwell, Cayce Lockhart, Stormi Pitman, Maddy Shaline, Kate Treinen, Tegan Duncan, Bailee Karo, Pacen Rowe, Cooper McClain, Ty Oliver, Ty Krebs, Lucas Mahaffey, Cade VanSole and David Jones.
