Commander Marvin Hermanns took a vote of active American Legion members and the result was to keep the parade on Montezuma Avenue. He said there is a “group of six friends who stir each other up” and that “a rogue group of veterans were trying to divide Montezuma County.” (Journal, Aug. 28.)
Where does anyone get off calling any group of veterans “rogue”? We as veterans stand up for something we believe in and we are rogues? The American Legion is not the end all in the decision about the Veterans Day Parade.
I for one will be supporting my fellow veterans on Main Street with the laying of the wreaths. This is the way to divide the county, with Marvin Hermanns forcing his will on those who oppose him and his agenda.
We the Rogue Veterans of Montezuma County, will hold our heads high on Main Street on Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
