Dolores is wrapping up the summer season, but there are still some festivals and events coming up.
The Riverfront Bar and Grill is hosting a pig roast and free music festival over the Labor Day weekend.
On Friday, Sept. 4, the Rhythm Dawgs will play at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 5, there will be a pig roast, and servings will be sold by the plate. These Guys will play from noon to 4 p.m.
On Sunday, Sept. 6, Sunny Gable and A La Cote, of Durango, will play beginning at noon. There is no cover charge for any of the bands.
"It's our end of the summer blow-out party," said staffer Sadie Christensen.
Harvest Festival
There are free vendor booths available for the Dolores Harvest Festival, scheduled for Oct. 10, in Flanders Park.
This year, there will be live music, in addition to vendors selling freshly harvested fruits and vegetables.
"We have 25 vendors signed up so far," said organizer Rocky Moss, of the Dolores Chamber.
Besides locally grown produce, there will be homemade crafts, jams, and fresh fry bread.

River news
On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the Dolores River Boating Advocates will be hosting the Dolores River Fall Forum beginning at 6 p.m. at the Dolores Community Center.
Topics that will be discussed include the Dolores River cable accident, the Dolores River National Conservation Area proposal, the Colorado Water Plan, and the Dolores River flows and storage forecast for 2016.

Reading program
After-school reading programs have begun at the Dolores Library. Kindergarten students meet on Mondays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; first-graders meet on Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; on Wednesdays second- and third-graders alternate, and meet at 3:30 p.m.; on Thursdays fourth-graders meet at 3:30 p.m., alternating every week between writing and reading; and Sept. 18, fifth-graders meet at 4 p.m.
Parents must register the child at the school or library.
