Ben Rice, who has been leaving favorable impressions on audiences around the Northwest with his voice and guitar for the past seven years, will perform at the Sunflower Theatre on Friday, Aug. 21, at 7:30 p.m.
Doors and cash bar open at 6:45. Tickets are $15 and are available at sunflowertheatre.org and at the door. There will be dancing.
Rice took the International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee by storm in 2014, leaving the audience wanting more of his raw emotional delivery of “Key to the Highway.” His return to the finals in 2015 with partner Lucy Hammond highlighted his voice and guitar again with a set of all original music.
His original music blends Soul, Delta-Blues, Rockabilly, Jazz, and Funk into a Roots Stew. ARice tells stories about how his songs can be reflections of his experiences. He also has an interesting arsenal of guitars, playing resophonic guitars and homemade cigar box guitars.
