The Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1 is seeking nominees for the Nov. 3 school board election.
Three directors – for districts C, E and G – will be elected to four-year terms. The director representing District F will be elected to a two-year term.
To qualify, a candidate must have been a registered elector of the school district for at least 12 consecutive months before the election and a resident of the relevant director district. Candidates who have been convicted of a sexual crime against a child are not eligible.
Nominees must file a written notice of their intention to be a candidate and a nomination petition signed by at least 50 eligible registered voters.
Petitions may be obtained at the superintendent’s office at 400 N. Elm St., Cortez. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Submit completed petitions to election official Linda Diffendaffer, by 4 p.m. on Aug. 28.
