We are in the midst of fair week, six days in and going strong. Many Dolores residents are taking part in the event.

The amount of work and dedication that has gone into this year's fair is impressive. Organizers have been working very hard to keep things running smoothly. Project leaders have provided great guidance, and 4-H members have done a fantastic job on their projects and diligently filled out their record books. The judges have given very good feedback.

Today was the rabbit and poultry show, and the first day of the Colt Starting Challenge, which will continue Friday at 8 a.m. Exhibits inside the main building are open too. The fashion, horticulture, rocketry, cake decorating, and more have all been judged. Go on over and see the winning entries at some point. We are in for more fun tomorrow.

Farmer's Market

Every Wednesday, Dolores residents have brought a variety of goods to sell at the Dolores Farmer's Market. Last week, Juyrene and Lisa Ward had mouthwatering jam neatly displayed in rows. Passerby could take their pick of raspberry, apricot, jalapeño jelly, or cactus fruit. Nancy Nelligan had delicious looking baked goods. Aidan Hastings brought fresh oyster mushrooms. Many vendors brought fruits and vegetables, all locally grown. These next few weeks will bring raspberries and tomatoes to the event. Other residents supplied handcrafted wooden carvings, cute knitted hats, and friendly conversations.

Win A Bike

Would you like the chance to win a bike? How about five chances? The Dolores Rotary is sponsoring the Kid's Bike Rodeo this year at Escalante Days, and they are giving away five bikes in a drawing that only requires you to show up and participate. Thank you to the Dolores Medical Center, which is supplying the winning bikes. The Bike Rodeo is Friday, Aug. 7, and starts at 6. There will be an ice cream eating contest afterward.
