The main plaza in Dolores just got some style with the opening of The Calico, a mercantile full of antique, vintage and hand-crafted items for the home or business.
“We have something for everyone with fabulous one-of-a-kind finds,” says owner Bonnie Devereaux, who recently relocated from Prescott, Arizona, where she had an antique shop.
From custom furniture, tapestry and decorative lamps, to historic Western items, artistic collectibles and classic Nordic sleds and skis, the variety is impressively displayed throughout the three-room gallery.
“I love old things that have nice design and color,” Devereaux says. “I believe each item has a destination to someone’s place.”
Calico’s prices are competitive and reasonable. The store does not do consignment, but offers direct buy if you’ve got a vintage or unique item to sell.
Moving to Dolores feels like coming home, Devereaux says.
“I’ve been visiting here for 30 years to hike, and the Calico trail is my favorite,” she said. “This area is like comfort food for me.”
