Seniors at Dolores High School have been counting down the days for some time.
Senior Night is Friday, May 22. There is a meet-and-greet at 5 p.m. and at 6 p.m. then presentations of awards and scholarships will begin.
Graduation will be May 23. Doors open at 9 a.m., and the ceremony begins at 10 a.m.
Destination Imagination
A handful of Destination Imagination teams from Dolores went to the state competition over the last weekend in April. The High School Girls team took home 10th place, and the fourth-grade team coached by Michelle Cochrane took home fourth place.
Congratulations.
Dolores High School FFA students competed at the State Competition on won first place in the Ag Mechanics category and qualified for Nationals.
Garden sale
The Dolores School to Farm Program will have an end-of-the year sale May 26-28 at the garden, on the north side of the school's playground, from noon to 2 p.m. For sale will be vegetable, fruit and flower starts, produce, greeting cards, herb teas, spice blends, bath bags, worm bins, accessories for kitchen and garden, T-shirts, hats, the first Montezuma School to Farm Program Cookbook.

Students earn prizes for completing reading logs all summer long.
"We also offer other programs to support summer learning. The first is a mini-summer school held the two weeks before the start of school. Students who need a little extra encouragement to read are eligible for this program. For more information, call Alesa Reed or Correen Becher at 882-4688.
Another option is an opportunity for independent study. We have high-quality reading and math workbooks available for students who have completed grades 1-5. We ask that parents pay half the cost of the books, or $10. See Cheryl in the office if you wish to reserve a workbook or two.
The Dolores Public Library offers its annual Summer Reading Program. he library also offers a math program called "Bedtime Math." Registration is June 1, and the program begins June 9. The summer reading program will meet on Tuesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. for most of the summer. The Piñon Project is starting a sack lunch program at the library as well. Children from ages 1-18 are eligible for free lunches from June 9 to August 1. For more information, call the library at 882-4127.
