According to posts made to the San Miguel Sheriff’s Office Twitter account, there were about 45 passengers on the Telluride-bound bus, most of whom were elderly. The Sheriff’s Office had not responded to calls as of 2 p.m. Sunday.
About noon Sunday, the sheriff’s office posted that “all occupants safe and being transported to Telluride. No injuries.”
According to a previous report, the passengers were stranded for several hours Saturday after the tour bus slid off Colorado Highway 145 atop Lizard Head Pass.
The bus was using chains, but the pass was closed at the time for avalanche control. Details about the bus’ route and how it was on the pass were unclear Sunday.
Passengers were transported to Telluride by a shuttle and emergency responders.
