Soon after, the Mancos High School senior who has been a member of the Lady Jays track team for four years flashed her trademark grin as a sign that she was pleased with her 5th place result at the Cortez Invitational on March 25.
"My goal is to make it to state in the discus," said Goff. "I ranked 25th last year and just missed (the state meet) by a couple of feet. I'll also run a couple of relays and do the hurdles."
Prior to the start of the track season, Goff enjoyed success on the basketball court, where she started for the Lady Jays varsity team for the third straight season.
An physically strong shooting guard with a nose for the ball and a knack for scoring in the paint, Goff averaged a team-high 11.1 points per game on the season.
"I'm very aggressive and I kind of have an attitude when I get angry," said Goff. "I was so stoked to make it to Regionals my senior year. I was so proud of my team for pulling it together with just eight of us."
When not focusing on basketball and track, Goff spent time on the volleyball court, and played a role on the Lady Jays volleyball team in each of the last four seasons.
As a senior, Goff had 26 kills and 19 aces. She also ranked third on the team in digs with 160.
Among the matches that Goff will remember most came during the Class 2A state tournament her freshman season when she received unexpected playing time.
"Courtney Colyer got hurt during Regionals and I got thrown in and ended up starting at state," Goff said. "Volleyball wasn't really my sport. I played it, but I didn't really enjoy playing it."
In addition to participating in three sports, Goff has found time to produce quality work in the classroom, where she earns A's and B's. Asked about her plans for the future, the senior said that she has yet to pick a college, but plans to pursue a college degree.
"I wanted to be a vet tech, but then I changed my mind and I might do EMT school," Goff said. "I'll go to college somewhere. I just haven't decided where yet."
