Majority rules have not applied to sophomore Rylee Lindsley, who, in just her second season of high school athletics, has earned five varsity letters and started for two M-CHS varsity sports teams.
Versatile volleyball player
Opening the 2014 volleyball season as one of the Lady Panthers’ opposite hitters, Lindsley used timely offense with solid defense to become one of her team’s most versatile players.
On offense, Lindsley amassed 46 kills and on defense, the sophomore ranked third on the team with 195 digs and made 20 blocks.
“We did way better than last year,” said Lindsley. “I felt like I had a good season and I hope that our team can do even better next year.”
Developing basketball skills
Soon after completing her volleyball season, Lindsley hit the court for the M-CHS girls basketball program and earned a starting spot on the Lady Panthers junior varsity team and a spot on the varsity team’s bench.
“John McHenry is a really good coach and this year everything started coming together,” said Lindsley. “My goal is to go far in the (playoffs) in the future and I think we’ll be able to do that.”
Fast-rising soccer star
Planning to round out her busy school year as a participant on the M-CHS girls soccer team, Lindsley will look to contribute as a right midfielder position after starting in that spot as a freshman.
Asked about her goals for the upcoming soccer season, Lindsley said that she hopes to distribute the ball to teammates and effectively score when the opportunity presents itself.
“We have a lot of new players and a new coach and I think that the season will be a good experience,” said the sophomore. “We have a new setup. We’re running a 4-4-2 this year and I want that to work.”
An aspiring nurse
More than just a three-sport athlete, Lindsley has produced solid results in the classroom and currently owns a 3.57 GPA. Listing geometry and history as her favorite subjects, Lindsley said that she would like to play soccer in college and study to become a nurse.
