Mrs. Amy Thompson was named as one of two Merit Mothers in the annual search for the Colorado Mother of the Year. The second Merit Mother was Mrs. Otto J. McGinley of Denver, while the Mother of 1975 was Mrs. Reed Ferrill of Pueblo, mother of five and a home economics teacher.
Race and Rally Riders Inc. snowmobile club of Cortez, Colo.,will sponsor snowmobile races at the Stoner, Colo., ski area on March 2. There will be drag and oval races for children, oval and obstacle races for men and women. All cc classes and all types of machines, old stock, stock, super stock and modified.
Larry Duane Huff of Olathe, Colo., son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Art DeGuelle, former residents of Dolores, was fatally injured in a head-on collision of two truck-trailer rigs just east of Sapinero,, Colo. The State Patrol attributed the accident to poor visibility caused by winds and snow in the area last Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Bowden and daughters, Traci and Vikki from Salt Lake City visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bowden over the long weekend a week ago returning home on Monday. Betty Bowden was also down to get acquainted with her new little niece, Vikki, whom she had not seen before. She returned to Denver on Sunday.
John Lambert was released from Southwest Memorial Hospital on Monday of this week after being a patient for 10 days. He consulted with a doctor in Farmington on Wednesday.
The Depression Glass Club will meet at the home of Mrs. Vaughna McClain at 1401½ Central Ave. in Dolores on Monday, March 3 ,at 7 p.m. Anyone having Depression Glass they would like to show or pieces they would like to ask questions about are asked to bring it. On Feb. 15th, Sheryl Speer and Steven B. Hill were united in marriage in Phoenix, Ariz., at Calvary United Methodist Church. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Speer of Dolores. The groom's parents are Elizabeth Hill of Los Angeles and Mr. and Mrs. L.V. Hill of Dolores. The bride wore a long pale pink polyester dress and carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations.
Gloria Sturman took two first places and was second place in the Miss FBLS contest at the meeting of the Future Business Leaders of America at the meeting held Feb. 22 at Delta. Her first places were won in Senior Accounting and General Business.
