Last week’s warm temperatures broke some long-standing records, according to Jim Andrus, National Weather Service weather observer.
On Feb. 6, the mercury rose to 64 degrees, breaking the previous set record of 62 degrees, set in 1963.
On Feb. 7, the high was 61 degrees, a number that tied with the previous high, also set in 1963.
On Feb. 8, a new record was set when the mercury rose to 64 degrees, which shattered the previous record of 62, set in 1954.
Another record-setting day occurred on Monday, Feb. 9 when the mercury rose to 64 degrees, breaking the previous record of 61, also set in 1954, 61 years ago.
The temperatures have cooled down a bit since earlier this week, Andrus expects a new weather system will come in the middle of next week and moisture and lower temperatures could be on our way.
